Innocorp To Conduct Nationwide Study About Marijuana Impairment And Driving Awareness Campaign
Verona, Wisconsin… Innocorp, Ltd. is seeking schools willing to participate in a study this spring evaluating the impact of using the Fatal Vision® Marijuana goggles in a program highlighting the dangers of marijuana use and driving. The aim of this study is to evaluate the effect of using the marijuana goggles in changing beliefs that driving under the influence of marijuana is of little risk and fostering behavioral intentions toward sober driving. “We will use the results from this study to further develop and improve the MARijuana Driving Experience (MARDE®) campaign which is focused on promoting marijuana-free driving, says Michael Aguilar, President and CEO of Innocorp.
“Innocorp will be randomly selecting interested schools to participate and will provide all the materials selected schools will need to complete the study” continues Aguilar.
According to the National Institute on Drug Abuse, Marijuana is the illicit drug most frequently found in the blood of drivers who have been involved in crashes, including fatal ones. However, conflicting reports of marijuana’s impact on driving can create confusion and mistrust of prevention efforts to promote marijuana-free driving. The role played by marijuana in crashes is often unclear, because it can remain detectable in body fluids for days or even weeks after intoxication and because users frequently combine it with alcohol. Two large European studies found that drivers with THC in their blood were roughly twice as likely to be culpable for a fatal crash than drivers who had not used drugs or alcohol.
