Virtual Learning Resources and Tips for Your Traffic Safety Program

This blog post features virtual learning resources and tips for a traffic safety program.

Our new impaired and distracted driving training tool is a great addition to a virtual educational program.

With many educational programs transitioning to virtual learning due to the COVID-19 pandemic, traffic safety program instructors have been forced to find new and innovative ways to engage students in an online setting. While online learning is certainly different than in-person instruction, the right implementation can make your virtual sessions just as impactful and engaging as previous in-person ones.

In this blog post, we’ll share a few virtual learning resources and tips for online traffic safety programs, including information about our new impaired and distracted driving training tool built specifically for online learning.

Tips for Virtual Lesson Planning

  1. Planning ahead is critical to designing an impactful virtual traffic safety program. One tip is to map out the structure, timing, and objectives of your training session. Be sure to schedule virtual breaks to allow students to talk, use the restroom, and share feedback with you.
  2. Students can learn just as much from a virtual session as an in-person one. Setting clear expectations for what students need to do – from downloading lesson materials to logging into the online system – will ensure they complete their learning when and how they’re supposed to.
  3. If you are not already familiar with the technology you will be using to conduct your virtual traffic safety session, you will likely want to practice with it beforehand.
  4. Consider adding interactive elements to your lesson plans, like demonstrations and partner learning activities. This will encourage student engagement and participation, making it easier for participants to remember key messages from the lesson.

Plan My Ride: A New Virtual Learning Resource for Traffic Safety Programs

Our new research-based, interactive online training program is designed and developed for young drivers. The virtual learning course Plan My Ride covers driving skills as well as facts and prevention related to distracted driving and substance-impaired driving.

Benefits

Our virtual learning program allows instructors to meet health-related education standards while teaching safe driving skills through remote learning methods. The program is also incredibly flexible, allowing instructors to reinforce and extend the learning with additional activities, completed either virtually or in-person.

Students will appreciate the easy-to-use virtual learning system and interactive content designed specifically for their age group. The knowledge exam and certificate of completion can also instill confidence in their newly learned safe driving skills.

Pricing

Plan My Ride is available in two different package options designed for both small groups (25 student seats) and larger groups (150 student seats). Seats for students are for logging in, viewing, and completing the online lessons as well as a knowledge test.

Each package also includes instructor seats that provide materials for supplemental group discussion, activity guides, dashboard access, and management of the program. Instructors are also highly encouraged to develop their own lesson activities to complement the online program’s material.

If you have a larger group in your traffic safety program, contact our team for custom pricing options.
