Engage participants with a hands-on simulation that shows how quickly speed turns confidence into overconfidence. Fatal Speeding™ engages participants in a memorable learning experience that helps them see, feel, and understand what happens when drivers push beyond safe limits. Using a steering wheel, pedals, and an electronic board, participants discover how increased speed shortens reaction time, extends stopping distance, and makes hazards harder to avoid.
How Does It Work?: Fatal Speeding works by comparing how a driver performs at normal speeds versus higher speeds using a simulated driving task. Participants steer to avoid obstacles and use the brake to stop at a designated stopping line while results are tracked on the LED board. After several normal-speed trials, the system automatically increases speed, reducing the time available to perceive hazards, react, and stop. The activity visibly shows the results of delayed braking and missed obstacles, allowing participants to see and feel how increased speed narrows vision, slows reaction time, lengthens stopping distance, and raises crash severity.
The experience naturally sparks conversation and reflection as participants talk through what they noticed, what changed at higher speeds, and how those differences affect real-world driving decisions.
