Master Bartender® is an entertaining and competitive approach to help educate about standard drink units (SDUs) of common alcoholic beverages and promote responsible alcohol consumption. Many people don’t know what a standard serving is for a beer, cooler, malt liquor, table wine, fortified wine, cordial or spirits. Having this knowledge is a first step toward promoting responsible drinking. Using the SUM-IT-CUP® measuring beakers, players are challenged to pour what they believe to be an SDU and then measure to see how accurate that pour is. The Master Bartender is the person who can pour the most accurate drinks, without over- or under-pouring, throughout the game.
Playing the game:
- A participant selects a game play card and pours the described drink.
- The drink is measured in the SUM-IT-CUP beaker, with accurate servings being rewarded with tip money and inaccurate pours costing the player bartender tip money.
- Challenges vary in the level of difficulty and complexity as participants dispense bartender advice or tell a joke while pouring a specialty drink with multiple servings.
- The winner is the participant who ends the game with the most tip money and is designated the Master Bartender.
Master Bartender is a great way to create an understanding about standard drink sizes, keep everyone’s attention with an educational yet fun activity, and encourage conversation and interaction about the responsible use of alcohol.
