Plan My Ride – Web-based Distracted and Impaired Driving Prevention Skills Building Program
An eye-opening tool through which sober people can experience what it’s like to navigate basic tasks after drinking. Walking a line, standing on one leg, reaching out to grab a set of keys and tossing a ball become much more difficult under the influence of alcohol. The Fatal Vision Alcohol Impairment Goggles — also called drunk goggles or drunk glasses — give participants a safe way to learn the important lesson that alcohol greatly impairs a person’s balance, vision, reaction time and judgment.

Plan My Ride is a research-based, self-paced, interactive, web-based traffic safety education program. Developed by researchers working with young drivers, Plan My Ride focuses on building a young driver’s skills and ability to avoid driving impaired or riding with an impaired driver.

Unlike most online traffic safety programs, the Plan My Ride flexible design accommodates in class room delivery as well as remote learning, learner tracking and assessment, driver skill building, instructor support, and easy program administration.

Benefits of Plan My Ride:

  • Focused on building tangible skills to prevent distracted and impaired driving from ever happening
  • Designed in look, feel, tone, and content to engage young drivers
  • An interactive and self-paced online learning program
  • 360-degree videos allow students to apply and practice the learned skills in real-life scenarios (see table below for more detail)
