Distract-A-Match® is a simple shape and color matching game that helps demonstrate in a fun and engaging way the impact of distractions or alcohol on a person’s reaction time and judgment. Distractions and alcohol impairment both cause a “tunnel vision” effect that pulls a driver’s focus away from the critical tasks of operating a motor vehicle.
Playing the game is simple. Participants race against a 30 second timer to perform two simple tasks; matching shapes and counting backwards from 100. Participants typically experience difficulties in speaking, thinking clearly and performing the given tasks. The exercise can be repeated using the Fatal Reaction® unit or Fatal Vision® goggles to show the dramatic impact of distraction or impairment on our ability to play the game. The lesson is delivered when the program instructor explains how these same distractions and impairments create extremely dangerous situations when trying to drive a vehicle.
Distract-A-Match® is a fun and engaging complement to Fatal Reaction® and Fatal Vision® Impairment Simulation Goggles or can be used with a participant’s cell phone for an effective and memorable experience.
