Motorcycle Safety
Help Reduce Alcohol-Related Motorcycle Crashes
Motorcycle riders have the option to choose, or not choose, options for riding safe. Choices we make as riders can have a dramatic impact on the level of risk we incur as we ride. Innocorp has developed two campaigns under grants from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) and Wisconsin Bureau of Transportation Safety promoting safe riding, Project Green-Yellow-Red and 5=Zero in Wisconsin.
Watch an Overview of Green Yellow Red
Project Green-Yellow-Red is a Community-based Social Marketing campaign designed to reduce alcohol-related motorcycle crashes. According to data collected and analyzed as part of the federally funded initiative, the two counties participating in the program experienced a 45 percent decrease in alcohol related single-motorcycle crashes, compared to a 13 percent decrease in other Wisconsin counties that did not participate in the campaign. In July 2009 the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) published details of the campaign, finding it successful in its primary initiative of reducing alcohol related motorcycle crashes.
The Blue Knights MC and Innocorp teamed up to develop and promote a motorcycle safety initiative called 5=Zero. The goal of the 5=Zero campaign is to reduce motorcycle fatalities to zero by promoting and providing options covering 5 areas of motorcycle safety. Those areas include:
- Ride sober
- Wear safety gear
- Get trained and licensed
- Use safe riding practices and obey the law
- Inspect and maintain your motorcycle
Changing attitudes about any issue and ultimately behaviors begins with awareness and education. To order or to learn more about using Innocorp, Ltd. tools and resources in your safety and prevention initiatives, please call us toll-free at 800-272-5023.
